Spirometry

Spirometry is a very sensitive and specific diagnostic test that can be performed in our clinic  to diagnose Asthma .

You will be asked to blow, as long and hard as you can, into a small tube attached to a machine.

The machine measures how long it takes to blow out all the air from your lungs.

The more blocked your airways, the longer it takes to blow the air out.

Spirometry is the most reliable method of testing your lungs.

Test results are compared with standard values according to the age, sex, height and weight of the patient.

In order to obtain a good result, the test is performed before and after administation of a broncho-dilator. (Ventolin....).

An average of 3 blows before medication and 3 after will be performed.

A copy of the result will be given to you at the end of the session along with explanations, diagnosis, and a treatment plan if indicated.
